: behind the bp logo

This looks like a Greenpeace initiative launched even before the latest BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Not surprising, since despite their beautiful logo (branding by Landor) they have had a string of horrible accidents that point at some serious mismanagement issues. This user generated Greenpeace campaign asks members to create new logo for BP that better represents them as a company. Ouch. That's gotta hurt a brand. However, they have bigger problems at the moment.
The oil now entering the marshes on the Gulf coast will probably kill large swaths of that ecosystem for decades to come. Such a tragedy. It hurts to watch this because it makes you mad at the oil companies, but it also hits upon the truth, that we are all in some degree to blame.
The logos from the competition below come from the campaign's corresponding Flickr pool.
